Trying out this blogging thing again

Me, the last ten years when it came to blogging. Also, a monkey I met in Kyoto the summer of 2010.

It’s been awhile. A very long while.

The last time I blogged, I don’t think “blogging” was even a term yet. Or maybe it was, but it was still new and not so ubiquitous. I had a Livejournal back when everyone had one in the early aughts, and I thought I was being clever and irreverant in my daily musings (all lower case, all the time). Times have changed. Blogs have now blown up into….everything imaginable and I had quit with the word vomiting.

Anyway, I’ve decided to give it another go. This is the first real entry on this blog. The previous posts were imported from the news section of my website as I retool into an actual blog from sporadically-posted updates. Since I’m not telling anyone about this just yet, if you happened upon this….hello!

2017 has been full of change for me, and there is even more excitement on the horizon. As such, I think I would like to chronicle my adventures through here. It will hopefully be much more interesting this time around, between being older, wiser, and and having that trait called self-awareness. I’m no writer though, this will likely be more of a vehicle to post photos and add more context beyond a short caption. Stay tuned!

The digital version of the #mytinyatlasSOLAS photo exhibit is now online, and I am quite flattered to see my image being used in the header design! You can view the online gallery here.

I was unable to attend, being on the opposite coast and all, but was able to get the photos below from a couple of friends who attended for me!

Hooray!! One of my photos from last year’s adventure in Turkey got selected for a photo show happening this week. I am very happy to be part of it and even more excited that they posted my shot on their feed. I’ve never seen so many likes on something I’ve created. I can say it definitely helps on any lingering Imposter Syndrome I’ve struggled with.

Being Wanderful

About 6 weeks ago, I was contacted by one of the staff at Wanderful, a lovely travel community for women that I am a member of. “Congratulations on being selected to be our July Wanderful Global Member of the Month!”, she wrote. “If you would like to accept, please send me the following items by no later than July 5th.” Hah! I happened to be in the middle of my Europtrip when this email had arrived with my return date being July 4. I asked for a deadline extension and submitted my answers.

Go check out my profile here, where they call me a badass!
